The
Republic of Belarus wanted to modernize its printing
department and establish official State Newspapers in
order to keep its citizens informed and give them a forum
to express their opinions and concerns.
This
was at the time when the Republic of Belarus declared
their independence. People were striking for laws that
were already enacted. The government needed to publish
and inform its citizens of these new reforms.
The
Belarus Government investigated different options in
replacing their antique Linotype "hot metal-type" Press
with a more modern publishing system. They contacted all
of the major computer manufacturers, who in turn referred
them to FontWorld.
FontWorld
provided to the Republic of Belarus a modern multiple
language desktop publishing system, complete with
custom fonts, desktop publishing software, laser
printers, Apple Macintosh computers, and expert training
to get them up-to-speed in using modern
computers.
The
Belarus State Newspaper "Republica" was created with
FontWorld's assistance. As a result, the devastating
strikes which had hampered the emerging Belarus economy,
ended. FontWorld's multiple language publishing system
represented the first introduction of Apple Macintosh
into the Republic of Belarus.
