DOCUMENT DISTRIBUTION ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB

We are experiencing a World Wide Webplosion of information. With millions upon millions of webpages, locating the information you want can be difficult to say the least. Should you be fortunate to find what you are seeking, will you be able to use it in a meaningful way?

As daunting as that may sound, can you imagine what a Webmaster must deal with. They face a monumental task, filled with continuous obstacles blocking their path in their attempts to reach you.

The challenges at first seems insurmountable. Maintaining an easy method of navigating the website is important. The Webmaster must focus upon "content", yet "presentation" is also critical to entice the visitor to stay and explore their website.

All too often, websites appear as if it were created from a word-processor, or are so heavy with graphic illustrations, the website becomes unbearable in display time.

The Webmaster must create a delicate balance between "content" -vs- "graphics" in an ongoing battle to reduce display time. If the page is too heavy with graphics, the visitor will leave due to excessive display time. If the pages are long and the paragraphs filled long, raw text, the visitor will soon lose interest.

What is a Webmaster to do? The use of "Tables" in HTML plays an important role in webdesign. Tables are the Butcher Block of Web-Design*. They provide the Webmaster with flexible design options. Yet there is an option that is fast becoming a standard for websites worldwide.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is perhaps the most popular Web-Browser tool, used by millions of people worldwide. Acrobat Reader allows you to view and print beautifully formatted documents, without the design restrictions of HTML. It is the most ideal method of distributing fully formatted documents over the Internet.

The files you read with Acrobat are called PDF files. The free Adobe Acrobat Reader allows you to view, navigate, and print PDF files across all major computing platforms, whether you are using Windows, Macintosh, Unix, etc. This is not to say Acrobat PDF files replace HTML webpages. However, Acrobat PDF files will enhance your website, and is an ideal method in presenting attractive content, catalogs and order forms, with great ease.

Website visitors can use Acrobat Reader, which is a stand-alone application (free from Adobe), or within their browser as a plug-in, so they have options to view the documents while off or online.

For the Webmaster, it opens up numerous options. A visitor can elect to view the webpages in the traditional HTML format, or simply download fully formatted pages for review with Acrobat Reader. The full Acrobat program can even visit websites, and save the pages as PDF files.

Creating Acrobat documents are easy, and you can generate PDF files from nearly any software application. Acrobat documents can be enhanced for online use, such as online order forms with interactive hyperlinks, embedded QuickTime movie presentations. The possibilities are limited only to your creativity.

Acrobat PDF technology provides many benefits. With Adobe Acrobat's incredible file compression, the size of PDF files are small.

If your website contained foreign languages, you were forced to require visitors to alter their browser to be able to view the material in a specific language, or had to present these languages as a graphic file, which added to the already bloated display time. Not so with Acrobat PDF.

When designing your Website, consider offering your visitors the Acrobat option, it's the ultimate tool for document distribution.
